Dili

The first thing we heard about Dili is Diving. The diving just
outstanding.
We arrived in Dili and settled in in April 2003. We only stayed for about
a month because we had to go back to the U.S. for Alec's birth. We didn't
return until August 20, 2003 and left for good by the end of July 2005. It has been an interesting adventure.
We live about 1 kilometer from the Embassy and 100 feet away from the beach;
always under the watchful gaze of Cristo Rey to the East.
Dili
also has plenty of other good beaches with outstanding snorkelling and diving, which
makes for great
weekend picnics and barbecues. Our favorite spot is the sheltered cove of Areia Branca
(White Sand) about 3 km east of down town for best view of the sunsets and
Cristo Rei beach, just behind the Cristo Rei statue for weekend barbecues.

We were shocked at the beginning of this month by a
7.5 Richter scale earth quake. It was scary for 2 minutes, and
although the earth quake did a few damages, we are all fine here. You can
guess next, our night was filled with lots and lots of phone calls. |
