February

Alec turned 3 years and 8 months this month and is adjusting to the Montessori school wonderfully.  His imagination and his motor skills are improving.  Alec also learned big words at school like: Peninsula, Gulf, Isthmus for the forms of land and water.  He also learned big words he can use more regularly.

Alec has developed a natural curiosity.  When he sees Sam taking baths, he asks a lot of questions.  Since Alec has learned to undress, bath and get dressed by him self, he has developed an embarrassment of being seen naked.  He doesn't want either one of us to look at him while he is undressing for bath... At least until he was in the bath tub.

Alec celebrated Chinese New Year on Valentine's day.  Mom and Dad received a Valentine's card from Alec on the 10th.  Alec and Mom went to Bali in the middle of this month and the trip was full of surprises.  First, an old friend, Nick Porter, (a friend from when Sean and I live in China) welcomed us at the lobby of the hotel we were staying.  He apparently has been promoted and assigned to be deputy general manager of the Laguna Sheraton in Bali.  We had not been seen Nick for years.  Another high point of this trip was or taking Alec to play at the Waterbom Park -- he absolutely loved it.

Alec's bahasa Indonesia skill has sky rocketed.  His bahasa Indonesia is as good as his English and we are impressed how he can switch from one language to the other automatically.  When Alec saw our maintenance people fixing cracks in the driveway at home, Alec asked a lot of whys and Pak Kamal actually explained everything to him in Bahasa. Alec was really excited when Pak Kamal let him help.  And Alec did exactly what Pak Kamal asked him to do.

Alec's Quip du Mois:

I checked Alec’s homework book and learned that Alec’s class studying forms of land and water. Alec has to color the land with brown and the water with blue. I saw a picture what it seems like a peninsula, colorless.
Me: “Alec, you’re learning a peninsula? That’s cool”
Alec: “That’s a gulf!”
Oui, pardon moa…

Alec and I watched a monster truck show video clip from you tube in my bedroom.
Me: “Did you fluff?”
Alec embarrassedly smile and said: “M-hmm”
Me: “And what do you say?”
Alec covers his face with the sheet and said “Sorry! Excuse me I fluffed” The smell is getting strong…
Me: “O-honey, what did you eat?”
Alec hid under the sheet
Me: “Don’t hide in there…it’s probably smell worst…”
Alec shakes his whole body and said: “Moooooooooommmmmmmmm!!!

We were watching a history one of Russian model tank...
Alec: "Where are they going?"
Mom: "To the battle field"
Alec: "Where is that?"
Mom: "I don't know, sweetheart"
Alec: "YOU DON'T KNOW???"
I got the feeling Alec thought that I know everything...
Mom: "Maybe they're practicing, it doesn't say"
Alec: "What are they shooting there?"
Mom: "A target"
Alec: "For what, mommy?
Mom: "To make sure they shoot the right thing"
Alec: "What is the right thing?"
Bless Spongebob and his goofy looking starfish friend for coming right on time saving me from Alec's last question...I love booking program system Indovision has...

Alec came back to the dining table after going to the bathroom.
Mom: “You did not wash your hand, did you?”
Alec: “Yes, I did”
Mom: “There is no stool in that bathroom and you did not ask me to help you”.
Alec: “I washed my hand from the bath tub”.
He is a smart kiddo, no?

Alec: “Mom! I’m done bathing... I need help to get oooouuuuut!”
Mom:
“Ok. Be right there!”
Alec:
“My fingers are all pruney, now. Can you make it un-pruney?”
