Tangkahan Simalem Ranger

April 2007

We led a large group of journalists to Tangkahan to educate them about environmental issues and to help them prepare stories for Earth Day.  Some of the activites included bathing and riding elephants and cleaning up jungle trails and riverbanks of garbage.  Not only was the event really fun, but we generated huge earth day coverage in the local press.

Oh, and we learned something as well. When patrolling, the elephant brigade really to walk single file with each elephant wrapping its trunk around the tail of the elephant in front of it.

Bathed, played and rode the Sumatran Elephants

Happy Earth Day!  We clean the forest!

We enjoyed the view and spent time with family

Hang out with old friends, meeting new friends, we're all family!
